AMD Zone has made a visit to India and have commented that Microsoft has played an important role in AMD’s acquisition on ATI. They have told the Fusion News that only AMD Turion 64 x 2 Notebook chips are optimized for the 64-bit version of the latest OS from Microsoft. What ever the case may be for AMD but one question that is lurking my mind is: ‘ Will I be able to run Vista on my Intel based notebook…?’

By paying the charges, you will be getting an extra 2GB of space for your inbox, large file attachments of up to 20MB and with a much better UI. If you upgrade without the subscription fee but doing that will generate an error and will give you a link to sign up and pay the fees.

Anyone of you that has bought a new Intel Mac, will suffer a major problem that your new system will not be able to run Final Cut Pro 4.5 which is a comparatively older version of FCP. Every time you try to run the application, you will get an error that there is no AGP Graphics card present in your system and you will be left with no option other than closing the FCP. AGP cards work faster than PCI cards but your Intel Mac comes with a PCI express card that is a new bus that has better features than the AGP. The problem is that FCP 4.5 looks for a AGP card and gives you the error but to sort this problem out you have to make FCP 4.5 look for a PCI card instead. The procedure to do so is quite easy and you will have to spare just 2 minutes to do it… (1) Go to Applications folder (2) Right click on Final Cut Pro HD & choose Show Package Contents (3) Double click on Contents folder (4) Open up info.plist with TextEdit (5) Search for ‘AGP’ and replace it with ‘PCI’ (6) Save That’s surely an easy way to save some money that you would have spent on FCP 5…

With the improvements on Apple’s OS X Operating Systems admins can now easily connect their systems to Windows Network. Here I will tell you the 10 things that are necessary if you have to connect the Mac systems to a Windows Network. 1) Enable Windows Sharing on Mac: The first step before you start configuring the Mac system on the Windows Network is that you should enable Windows Sharing on the Mac systems. To enable Windows Sharing on a Macintosh, open System Preferences and select Sharing from within the Internet & Network section. Then, select the Windows Sharing check box. 2) The Mac’s default workgroup name may require some editing: Windows sometime features different workgroup names like MSHome etc. Thus there is a need to change the workgroup name on your Mac. For changing the name, all you have to do is to, open the Utilities folder, and double-click Directory Access. Click the lock and supply the Mac’s Administrator password to enable changes. Select the SMB/CIFS entry and click the Configure button. In the resulting Directory Access window, supply the workgroup name you want the Macintosh system to use and click OK. 3) New Windows users account must be created on the Mac: Before you can use Windows and Mac on the same network you must create usernames and passwords for the new users. For doing this, open System Preferences on the Apple system and click Accounts from within the System section. 4) There are many methods to access Mac Resources: After the Windows Users accounts have been created on the Mac they can now access the resources on the Mac. They should use the Add A Network Place Wizard or can open My Network Places, Windows Explorer and then type Apple’s IP address followed by a Valid User Account. 5) Enable printing to Windows Hosted printers: You can print your documents on printers hosted on Windows Computers by using Mac’s Print and Fax console. To enable Windows users to print to a printer installed on the Macintosh system, simply click the Sharing button and select the check boxes for the printers you want to share. 6) File services for Mac must be installed on SBS servers when OS 9 is present: If Apple OS 9 systems have to be supported, file services for Mac should be enabled on Small Business Server. Open Add/Remove Windows Components within Control Panel and enable File Services For Macintosh from within Other Network File And Print Services. 7) File Services for Mac requires the Microsoft UAM: To connect using file services for Mac, Microsoft’s UAM must be installed on each Mac system. Re-creating Windows Shares: Windows Shares must be re-created for enabling File Services on Mac. Windows users can use the Windows Manage application to re-create the shares. 9) OS X 10.3 and later can join SBS networks using Samba: Samba offers a simplified connection method but that is available only for OS X 10.3 and later users. 10) SBS .local domains may require DNS updates on their Mac: Systems using OS X 10.3 and its earlier versions must make DNS changes to leverage Samba. The older versions use Apple’s Rendezvous to make the connection. But still the most effective method is to upgrade to Mac OS X 10.4.

If you want to get some extra space on your Mac OS X system then I have a special application, Monolingual, for you with which you will be able to save around 2.2 GB of the valuable hard disk space. What the application does is not that great a deal as it just removes all language packs that will never be used by you and the space recovered is above 2 GB. But just be a bit cautious as don’t even touch the ‘Architectures’ tab as deleting G3, G4, G5 files will leave you helpless and you will not be able to run any PPC applications.

Are you sick of renting a DVD and just getting an hour to go through it… Well then the better way is to Rip that DVD and save it in your computer for future use. Ripping a DVD is a much easy task with this one-click Rip solution. There are two steps to install your own one click DVD rip solution: 1) Download and set up DVD shrink: The first step is to install DVD shrink. Click here to download the free software. Install the application in your default Program Files folder. Then go through a trial run of ripping a DVD. First of all put a DVD in your computer and run the just installed DVD Shrink. Hit the Open Disk button and wait for a minute or so for the application to analyze your disk. After the analyzing is complete you will see the DVD structure and the compression settings. Now hit the Backup button and specify the destination folder and name the DVD according to your choice. Hit OK button and the backup will begin. At this point cancel the rip and try with your own one-click rip but be sure that all the files that have already been ripped have been deleted. 2) The one-click DVD rip This is where the AutoHotkey comes into action. I’ve added some scripts that can be covered into a single executable file. First load your DVD and double click the Automatic DVD Rip executable file. Enter the name of the DVD which should be a unique one every time you rip. Press enter and you are done…! Download the source script here. You can also burn DVD’s which you have just ripped.

Probably you have listen about work form home. But have you ever heard about work form your car? What did you said? No! But this is true. Before starting office your vehicle should fulfill these criteria mentioned by National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB): (1) Is Your Car or Van having enough space? (2) Are you able to take seats out to make space for all your files and equipments? (3) Do you usually have passengers or workers with you who would prohibit this? (4) Talk to your insurance carrier about your plan. Discuss clearly to your insurance adviser about current insurance cover at the time of loss, damage or theft of your vehicle if you use it as mobile office. (5) Are you able to make any change in seating arrangement of your vehicle to create space for equipments you are going to use in your office? If you satisfy all the criteria, you can start your office with some basic equipments. You will only need to have a laptop, cell phone, a printer, and wireless connection.
