The race for more clock speed now not only has CPU’s as participants but GPU’s have also taken a place in the race.
Samsung has bumped the clock speed of GDDR4 memory to 2000MHz, up 66% from 1100 and 1200MHz memory that is integrated in today’s cards.
The data transfer speed has also gone up from 2.0 Gb/s to 4 Gb/s.
Samsung also stated that the company has shipped samples of the memory, which the company has made in an 80 nm, 512 MB density, to manufacturers. The company also expects to see the memory commercially available in graphics cards by the end of this year.
These cards will definitely enhance the performance of video applications.
