Just after the release of their GeForce 8800 announcement Nvidia has also unveiled CUDA, which is a new architecture that underlines the GeForce 8800. This technology allows delegating of tasks more evenly across hundreds of small-scale processors such as the new GeForce card and programs can run up to 100 times faster than when running on system’s main CPU. CUDA requires both development support and an intermediary driver that communicates with DirectX and OpenGL. The company claims that it will soon release a C-Compiler for smooth adoption. The release of this new technology will be helpful in speeding up of 3D animations and scientific work.
