Increasing power cost has urged the manufacturers to produce more power efficient devices. Dell is the latest company to enter the green data center war with a pair of PowerEdge servers: the 1.75-inch thick PowerEdge 1950 and the 3.5-inch-thick 2950. The new servers use higher-efficiency Intel processors, power supplies and fans, and include components to increase airflow in the chassis. All these features ensure improved performance per watt up to 25% then regular versions. The products will pose a hard competition for its rivals IBM, Sun Microsystems and HP. They are good to cut your power bills but will be available at prices $100 more than Energy Dumb PowerEdge 2950 (2U) and 1950 (1U) servers.
