Global computer chip maker, Intel has launched its updated Centrino platform, named Santa Rosa with new features and performance enhancements. Santa Rosa, the new version of Centrino, a Core 2 Duo processor allow notebook users to enjoy Intel’s tech manager-friendly vPro technologies.

Santa Rosa has also set the stage for improvements in ntel’s integrated graphics performance for notebook Pcs. The features of Santa Rosa are given below:

800MHz FSB: Santa Rosa is based on the same Merom core, which is currently used in existing Centrino products. This enhances the bus speed up from 667MHz to 800MHz and also supports for Dynamic Front-Side Bus Switching. The new technology allows the FSB to be underlocked, when users desire to save power. Santa Rosa keeps the speed of the FSB in half using Dynamic FSB switching. Thus it saves more than before. The company has referred this combination of chip-and-FSB underclocking as Super Low Frequency Mode, or Super LFM.

965 Mobile Express chipset: This is a tweaked version of Intel’s 965 Express “Broadwater” chipset. It is featuted with 10 USB 2.0 connections, 6 x1 PCI-Express lanes, 1 x16 PCI Express lane for discrete video, and support for dual-channel DDR2-667. Intel’s GMA X3100 IGP supports an integrated video and also offers full support for all Windows Vista Aero functions and features.

802.11n support: In this version, Santa Rosa refers Intel’s wireless router as Draft-N support. The new router provides up to 2x the range of 802.11g solutions and also offers a variety of sleep states to enhance notebook battery life.

Intel Turbo Memory: It has Intel Turbo Memory, which refers solid state flash memory as a disk cache to speed overall system performance and reduce the need for hard drive access. The Intel Turbo Memory is available in 512MB and 1GB flavors.
