Intel has plans to release three new Quad core models on Monday. These three models will include two low-end Xeons and one high-end model for main desktop computers.
The new high end Quad core is named Core 2 Quad 6600 that is set to accompany Core 2 Extreme QX6700 model that the company is already shipping.
The Core 2 Quad 6600 will run at 2.4GHz and will have a 1066MHz bus speed.
All the three processors are expected to debut at the CES-2007. Also for the CES the company will launch two new Xeon Models that is 2.13GHz 3210 and 2.4GHz 3220. Both of these processors are designed for single processor servers and will be having an 8MB Cache memory and a 1066MHz bus speed.
Intel started to ship Quad core processors in November but now the company has plans to enhance the product line up. The Quad core chips that are made by Intel combine two dual core processors on the other hand Intel’s rival AMD has also developed a quad core processor code named Barcelona and that has four independent cores on a single silicon chip. AMD has no plans to release these processors during CES and will probably hit the markets sometime after the first half of 2007.
