Windows XP Welcome Screen is obviously than that of Windows 2000 or Windows 98. But if you talk about me I hate it…! Reason being that I want to create an Administrator account and don’t want others to log into my computer. The usual Windows XP user screen looks like: It displays all the users except the built in administrator. To hide a user from the list we have to create a special value under the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindows NTCurrentVersionWinlogonSpecialAccountsUserList Under this create a DWORD value as: 0 – Hides the user just from the welcome screen 1 – The user is shown To hide all the users except one I add all the users in the registry and give them a value zero like this: Now when you log on you will be seeing only one user account and the rest of them are hidden. Now if you have to use the hidden username then press CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the log on screen. You will get a traditional Windows Logon screen. You can enter the hidden username and the password and can log in using it. If you don’t want the problem of giving a wrong value in the registry settings and damaging your system then you can use an application named XP user hide from IntelliAdmin
