Many of you who think that PS3 sucks or it isn’t worth it then you will have to change your wordings as Sony is shaping up its PS3 with a new OS.
It takes only four easy steps to change the environment.
We are still waiting for the compatible third party software that will serve the purpose but stay tuned for the details.
For the time being I will tell you the procedure for changing the OS.
But before knowing the procedure here are some precautions:
• Don’t turn off your PS3 during installation and don’t remove any disks during installation as this may corrupt the device and you may end up having a damaged PS3.
• During installation the power button of your PS3 is turned off so don’t panic your device is running and please don’t turn it off...!
Procedure:
1) Insert the disk that contains the installer.
2) Select system settings under settings in the home menu.
3) Select Install other OS and the system will search for the installer and on finding that the content will be displayed for you.
4) Check out the contents and press OK. This starts the installer and then follow the instructions.
5) After the installation is complete go to Settings, System settings, default settings and then select Other OS to restart the system.
That’s all you have changed the environment of your PS3...!

my ps3 does not have a SYSTEM menu but it does have a SETTINGS menu but does not hav anything about OS nor Install Other OS...
i dont know if this helps but i hav the new ps3 slim...
