AACS also known as the Advanced Access Control System, is an encryption technique that prevents the illegal copying of High-Def DVDs. This technique has been developed by companies including Walt Disney Co., Intel Corp., Microsoft Corp., Toshiba Corp. and Sony Corp. to protect HD content like Blu-Ray and HD-DVD. Well like all other encryption techniques this also has been cracked by a hacker known as Muslix64. He has posted the details of the hack on the internet telling the source code which he has developed to bypass the technique. The hacker has given the ways to copy several films including Warner Bros’ ‘Full Metal Jacket’. He also has stated that he will be posting some more details as to how to crack the encryption techniques do copy a wider range of titles on January 2. One of the AACS companies has commented that they know about the hack and they are looking into the claims. If the cracks posted by Muslix64 really work then they can pose a threat to Movie Studios. Lets wait till January 2 to see what Muslix64 has in store for us…!
