Many of you will be surprised to know that if you update your Windows, Internet Explorer 7 will be automatically installed. For those of you who are satisfied with your old browser Windows has released the Internet Explorer 7 blocking tool, which can be downloaded from the Microsoft’s web site for free.
Once you have downloaded and extracted the package you will see a command line tool as in the picture below. You can simply call the script with the computer name and /b, this command will block the automatic install of Internet Explorer 7 on your computer.

Alternatively, you can simply create a registry key that would do the same for you.
It is located under this key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftInternet ExplorerSetup7.0
The key name is: DoNotAllowIE70
