AMD has recently released a new chipset that is designed to overcome Intel in the budget space. This is the first chipset offering from the company after their merger with ATI. The chipset is also the first to bring in-house ATI graphics. The chipset features some advanced and latest functions that include HDMI 1.3 with HDCP, integrated TV encoder and dual discrete displays. The chipset is fine but the graphics are not meant to boast around. The testers at bit-tech found out that it has some games playable at 640 x 480 resolution, these games are not even playable on an Intel competitor chipset. For higher end performance you will still need a better PCI-express card. According to the testers the system has was pretty comparable to Intel’s offerings. The best feature is that these chipsets can be used in ultra portable laptops.
