AMD has finally released their new consumer flagship processor the X2 6000+.
Initially the company planned to release the processor in Q4 of 2006 but the launch was delayed and finally the chip is launched in Q1 of 2007.
This new 6000+ model complements company’s other models that are 5600+, 5400+, 5200+ and 5000+.
The new CPU has features that are similar to the FX-74 chip; the only difference is that the 6000+ CPU can only be used in single processor systems.
The 6000+ runs at 3.0GHz and is also a power-hungry system consuming a maximum of 125 watts. The company is also expected to launch a low powered version of the processor that will consume just 89 watts by Q3 of this year.
