Windows Vista will be released on January 30 and I don’t know about you but I am not very desperate to use it. Here is why:
1) No new features or speed boost:
Windows Vista does not feature any new interesting features except for some small gizmo applications. According to me Windows Vista is a Windows Server 2003 with some added colors.
Moreover Windows Vista will run your applications slower than Windows XP so you always be tempted to go for some additional hardware.
2) Not so good a GUI:
The interface provided by Vista is not that good when compared to Windows XP. The main difference is the excessive use of transparency which is a major case for the bifocal lens. The interface also provides unnecessary eye candy everywhere.
3) Security still a problem:
Microsoft decided not to build Vista on the longhorn kernel and they ended up having the same security lapses as in Windows XP.
4) Better alternatives:
There are still better alternatives than Vista. No I am not talking about Linux or any other OS, but I still think that Windows XP is a better alternative to Vista as you can do the same things in Windows XP and that to with less hassle.
